LAN can still stutter.

Remote Play over the same network is usually better than cloud gaming, but it can still suffer from Wi-Fi roaming, AWDL, background traffic and UDP/firewall behavior.

Useful setup checks

  • Use Ethernet for the console when possible.
  • Keep the Mac close to the router or use Ethernet for the Mac too.
  • Disable VPN while testing Remote Play behavior.
  • Pause iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Photos and Time Machine during the test.
  • Lower Remote Play quality/resolution if jitter appears under load.
